Kelsey Jennings, 39, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
On August 18, 2025, an officer with Oxford Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Highway 334 after observing multiple traffic violations. The driver, Kelsey Jennings, 39, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, came to a stop on Highway 334 just past Wilson Road. As the officer approached the vehicle, Jennings sped off, merging onto Highway 6 Westbound and began traveling at a high rate of speed.
Once the officer was behind Jennings again, he observed Jennings turn the vehicle around and drive the wrong way onto the onramp to Highway 6 from Old Taylor Road. Jennings then merged onto the Highway 6 Westbound lanes while traveling east. Jennings struck another vehicle and continued going the wrong way, and went up an exit ramp from Highway 6 to South Lamar Blvd. While traveling the wrong way on South Lamar, Jennings’ vehicle became disabled from striking the other vehicle earlier, and he abandoned it after turning onto Johnson Avenue.
Jennings then began to flee officers on foot until officers were able to catch him near a residence on Buchanan Avenue and placed him into custody. Jennings was arrested and charged with Failure to Stop Motor Vehicle When Officer Signals (Felony Fleeing) and five misdemeanor charges, including:
· Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage
· Possession of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle
· Driving While License Suspended
· Careless Driving
· Seatbelt Violation
Jennings was taken before a Municipal Court judge for his initial bond hearing. The Mississippi Department of Corrections placed a hold on Jennings due to Jennings being out on parole. The driver of the vehicle Jennings struck was not injured.
