Harmontown, Mississippi Woman Arrested for Cyberstalking

On December 30, 2024, Deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff‘s Office responded to a cyberstalking complaint in Harmontown.

After an investigation was conducted, it was determined that Jaterrika Gipson (33 years old Harmontown, Mississippi) had sent threatening and harassing messages that constituted of cyberstalking to the victim.

A warrant was issued for her arrest, and she was transported to LCDC. A justice court judge later set her bond at $5,000.

The Office of Sheriff is a four year term filled through an at-large election process. Duties of the Sheriff involve two primary areas; law enforcement of the county and administrative. The law enforcement duties are to keep the peace in Lafayette County while administrative duties consist primarily of serving as the county jailor. Due to the growth of Lafayette County, the Sheriff Department now employs 26 deputies working four 12 hour shifts.
