About the Case
On October 16, 2022, the Oxford Police Department received a 911 call reporting two injured individuals in the parking lot behind City Hall. Both victims, Walker Fielder and a female, were transported to the hospital. Tragically, Fielder later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators with OPD quickly secured video evidence showing Rokitka and released the images on social media, seeking public assistance. Within hours, numerous tips identifying Rokitka were received from across the Mid-South. He turned himself in to the authorities on October 17, 2022.
“Yesterday’s outcome brings a measure of closure to a long and difficult case. While no sentence can ever fully heal the loss suffered by Walker’s family and friends, we hope this resolution allows them to take another step forward in their journey of healing. On behalf of the Oxford Police Department, we remain deeply grateful for the strength and grace shown by the Fielder family and for the community members who stepped forward to help us bring this case to a resolution.”
