John Leath Halley Jr. 48 years old of Byhalia, Mississippi.
On April 1, 2025, Deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen Bobcat T300 Skid Steer. The machine was reported stolen by the victim, and was unable to be located in Lafayette County at that time.
After a few months, Lafayette County Investigators received a tip about the machine’s location. The machine was located in Marshall County and returned to the owner.
After an investigation was conducted, Investigators obtained a warrant for Grand Larceny on John Leath Halley Jr. 48 years old of Byhalia, Mississippi.
Halley was located in Harmontown, and was taken into custody on October 1, 2025. Halley was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center. Halley appeared before a Lafayette County Court Judge on Thursday, October 2, 2025 and was issued a $5,000.00 bond.
Halley is currently being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center on a hold for the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a parole violation. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this case.
