The National Association of School Superintendents (NASS) is proud to announce Bradley Roberson, Superintendent of the Oxford School District in Oxford, Mississippi, as a finalist for its prestigious 2025 Superintendent of the Year award. Roberson is recognized for his transformative leadership, dedication to continuous improvement, and unwavering commitment to student success.
During his tenure, Roberson has embedded improvement science into every level of the Oxford School District, empowering schools and departments to identify challenges, test solutions, and scale strategies that work. Through the use of cascading scorecards, his district aligns goals and measures progress on key metrics, including academic achievement, student engagement, parent satisfaction, and chronic absenteeism—driving transparency and data-informed decisions.

Under his leadership, the district has implemented innovative scheduling models, launched standards-based learning and grading across all grade levels, and integrated language acquisition with math instruction—narrowing proficiency gaps for non-English speakers by nearly 10% over three years. Roberson’s “PreK to Professional” readiness initiative tracks indicators such as internships, career certifications, and attendance, redefining what it means for students to be college, career, and life-ready.
Beyond Oxford, Roberson serves as Program Coordinator for the National Center for School-University Partnerships, facilitating networked improvement communities across Mississippi to address statewide challenges like special education achievement, English learner support, and chronic absenteeism. These collaborative efforts bring together educators, researchers, and community members to share strategies, build leadership capacity, and achieve measurable gains.
If selected as NASS Superintendent of the Year, Roberson plans to expand superintendent-led improvement communities within the NASS network, spotlighting innovation, fostering mentorship, and amplifying success stories in public education.
“When we build strong, well-supported leaders, we build strong school systems—and ultimately, stronger futures for the students we serve,” Roberson shared.
