We Didn’t Get Famous
The Center for the Study of Southern Culture is happy to announce 80s Music Night, Saturday July 14, an event that starts in Barnard Observatory and ends at The Blind Pig.
At 7 pm, in the Tupelo Room of Barnard Observatory on the University of Mississippi campus, is a showing of We Didn’t Get Famous: The Story of the Southern Music Underground, 1978-1990, the Southern Studies M.A. thesis film by Camilla Ann Aikin. The film includes interviews with musicians in The Judys, Pylon, The Windbreakers, The dBs, Carnival Season, The Squalls, The Germans, and Let’s Active.
A discussion follows with filmmaker Camilla Aikin and musician Tim Lee, who, as a member of The Windbreakers, is featured in the film. The film and discussion are free and open to the public.
At 9 pm following the film is music, including music from the 1980s, from Tim Lee 3 and Tyler Keith.
