Oxford High School senior Karter Vahle has received an appointment to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, a prestigious honor awarded to a select group of students from across the country. Karter was appointed to the Academy by Senator Roger Wicker and Representative Trent Kelly.
Located in Kings Point, New York, the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) is one of the nation’s five federal service academies. USMMA prepares students for roles in both the maritime industry and the armed forces through rigorous academic programs and training at sea.
A dedicated member of Oxford High School’s Junior ROTC program, Karter has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and service throughout his high school career.
Karter will report to the academy this summer to begin his journey at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors!
