TUPELO, Miss. – Ole Miss‘s Malik Dia dropped a season-high 27 points to lead the Rebels to an 80-66 win against Alabama A&M in Tupelo, Mississippi at Cadence Bank Arena on Wednesday night.
Ole Miss (7-4) got off to a hot start offensively as the Rebels scored three straight three-pointers, getting out in front to a quick 9-3 lead. However, Alabama A&M (6-5) wouldn’t be phased by the Rebels’ start, as they stormed back to get within three, 20-17, after a made three by Kintavious Dozier.
The Rebels would respond with a 10-0 run capped off by an Ilias Kamardine floater to put Ole Miss back in control, 30-17.
Ole Miss would continue its strong first-half offensive showing and ride the momentum into the halfway break up 44-29, led by Dia who scored a career high 17 first-half points
In the second half, the Rebels continued to push their lead, getting up by as much as 22, 67-45, with 8:10 left to play.
The visitors would manage to get back within 12, down 69-57 with under three minutes to go, however, the Rebels would outscore the Bulldogs 10-7 the rest of the way to secure the victory.
Ole Miss finished the game shooting 27-of-50, 54.0% from the field and 8-of-18, 44.4% from three-point range.
