On Thursday night at approximately 10:05 pm, Lafayette County Fire Department (LCFD) was dispatched to a reported kitchen fire in the 900 block of Highway 334. While units were en route, dispatch advised that the fire was spreading into the living room area.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find a working kitchen fire with extension into the attic. Crews quickly deployed hose lines and conducted an interior attack, containing the fire to the kitchen and attic spaces before bringing it under control.
All occupants were able to safely escape the residence prior to the arrival of firefighters, and no injuries were reported.
LCFD responded with FD6, Division 1, Engine 5, Engine 9, Engine 10, Engine 17, and Tanker 17, with a total of 15 firefighters on scene. Priority Baptist Ambulance Service responded for medical support, and the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control.
As of October 17, Lafayette County Fire Department has responded to 161 calls for service this month.
