On February 14, 2022, the Oxford Police Department took a walk-in report regarding credit card fraud. After investigation, Andrew Hobby, 36, of Oxford, Mississippi was charged with 12 counts of Credit Card Fraud from incidents which spanned over a 13 day period in January.
Hobby was taken into custody on February 17th and taken before a Lafayette County Justice Court judge for his initial bond hearing and issued a $15,000 bond.
The Oxford Police Department is housed 715 Molly Barr Road. The department has more than 70 full-time officers and staff and provides a wide range of protection and enforcement services.
The Police Department has a community-oriented policing philosophy and provides around-the-clock patrols. Other services include crime prevention programs, such as Neighborhood Watch and D.A.R.E., as well as specialized units including Mounted Patrol, K-9 Unit, DUI Enforcement and the City Dispatch.
