On July 28th, 2023, the Oxford Police Department responded to a business in the 2100 block of Jackson Avenue for a report of a bad check. After investigation, Christopher Bell, 26, of Oxford, Mississippi was arrested and has been charged with three counts of False Pretense as of this release with more charges possible.
Bell was taken before a Lafayette County Justice Court judge for his initial bond hearing and issued a $60,000 bond. It is believed that this crime has occurred at other businesses in town.
