The Mississippi State Department of Health is telling physicians, clinics and hospitals to stop using the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine until further guidance is issued by the Center for Disease Control and the Federal Drug Administration.
The federal agencies are reviewing data involving six cases in the U.S. that have been reported of a rare blood clot after receiving the J&J vaccine.

More than 6.8 million doses of the vaccine, which is also known as the Janssen vaccine, have been administered as of Monday in the U.S., according to the CDC.
The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are not affected.
