Proudly sitting just beyond the Oxford Square<\/strong> on North Lamar Boulevard<\/strong>, Volta Taverna<\/strong> has been one of the most popular local restaurants in town. Beloved for its Mediterranean-influenced fare and killer Margaritas, Volta has managed to maintain its status as a favorite among both the college crowd and local professionals. Plus, the pet-friendly patio is the perfect spot to enjoy some fresh air dining and drinks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Owner Brooke Krizbai<\/strong>, who was recently voted \u201cOxford\u2019s Favorite Boss\u201d in The Local Voice Townies<\/strong>, has been working hard to keep business steady and customers happy during the pandemic, and that has been a tall order. She credits nuch of the success to General Manager Kala Fontaine<\/strong> for her hard work and dedication of nearly 14 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe last 15 years has been a wild ride,\u201d she said. \u201cEven though 2020 has lasted 45 years, we are still kickin\u2019 thanks to the tremendous support of the Oxford community! The staff has been great at pushing through the crazy changes and curveballs that have become daily life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the menu changes up from time to time, some of the staples that regulars swear by include the Hotty Toddy Balls<\/strong>, the Greek Salad<\/strong>, the Gyros<\/strong>, and the Cheese Fries<\/strong> (my personal favorite). Also, the Greek Pimento Cheese<\/strong> is a spicy twist on a classic. Some of the newer additions, like the Bruce Lee<\/strong>, a Vietnamese flavored chicken wrap with a spicy kick, and the Gyro Sliders<\/strong> are gaining traction as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the factors that keeps Volta going strong has always been the staff. \u201cThe amount of dedication and care that the staff puts into Volta is truly unique,\u201d Brooke said.\u201cI think that\u2019s one of the main reasons why we are able to celebrate 15 years of serving Oxford. We really are a work family that loves one another and has each other\u2019s backs through thick and thin. I am so proud of them and the work culture we have created.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While maintaining social distancing and \u201cServing Oxford Safely\u201d guidelines, Volta continues to offer dine in service, outdoor dining, curbside pickup, and delivery through Bitesquad. Oh, and half-price Margaritas all month!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
