For the past several Fridays, City Grocery Restaurant Group<\/strong>\u2019s catering kitchen, The Main Event<\/strong>, has been holding pop-up lunches at their North Lamar<\/strong> facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first, which featured varieties of B\u00e1nh m\u00ec<\/strong> sandwiches, sold out within 45 minutes. The following week\u2019s Dim Sum<\/strong> menu lasted only 20 minutes. The third week shook things up a little by moving up the road to the old Lamar Lounge<\/strong> location, with plates of ribs and fixin\u2019s on the day before Independence Day. To say that these have been popular would be an understatement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More opportunities to take advantage of these special menus are coming up throughout the month of July and continuing into the summer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 10, look for the \u201cGas Station Classics<\/strong>\u201d Pop-Up<\/strong>, when they will be cranking out meat pies, pizza sticks, citrus-braised beef taquitos with salsa roja, French fries, and Crackerjack ice cream. On the menu the following week will be elote, shrimp ceviche, tacos, churros, and more delicious fare in the theme of \u201cMexican Street Food<\/strong>.\u201d Then, Friday, July 24 the Main Event staff will serve up \u201cPlate Lunch Food,\u201d which is sure to be a hit (twice-fried chicken and cornbread, anyone?).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All pop-up plates are sold take-out style following the \u201cServing Oxford Safely\u201d guidelines. The staff will be wearing gloves and masks at all times, and are taking orders \u201ccar hop\u201d style or over the phone to ensure social distancing requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each of these events will take place at the Main Event parking lot starting at 11:30 am, and are first-come, first-served. The creative menus are cooked up by Chefs Bryan Sapp<\/strong> and Andy McCown<\/strong>, and you can expect more fun themes in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
