Oxford Film Festival<\/strong> offers another robust lineup of films for the summer, with two family films at OFF to the Drive-In<\/a><\/strong> with Julio Vincent Gambuto<\/strong>\u2019s Team Marco<\/a><\/em><\/strong> on June 18, and Jim Henson<\/strong>\u2019s beloved classic Labyrinth<\/a><\/em><\/strong> on June 19 and 20. Presenting Sponsor Cannon Motors <\/strong>will host the screenings at the Cannon Lot <\/strong>located at 100 Thacker Loop<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week\u2019s Virtual Art House offerings are highlighted by Tom Bean<\/strong> and Luke Poling<\/strong>\u2019s documentary focusing on the one-of-a-kind participatory journalist, George Plimpton<\/strong> in Plimpton! Starring George Plimpton as Himself<\/em><\/strong>, Daniel Karslake<\/strong>\u2019s documentary on families struggling with the new world outlook on LGBTQ issues, For They Know Not What They Do<\/em><\/strong>, and Menelek Lumumba<\/strong>‘s animated drama, 1 Angry Black Man<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nothin’ No Better<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Oxford Film Festival\u2019s 8th Weekly Virtual Film Fest<\/strong> puts local filmmaking front and center with Ben and Bo Powell<\/strong>\u2019s film Nothin’ No Better<\/a><\/em><\/strong> which looks at the town of Rosedale, Mississippi<\/strong>. Two shorts programs include Project(ions)<\/a><\/strong>, an experimental film program, as well as a Student Shorts<\/a><\/strong> program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Executive Director Melanie Addington<\/strong> said. \u201cFrom alumni films like Plimpton!<\/em> that we can support with our Virtual Art House model, to one of my favorite films, Labyrinth<\/a><\/em>, from Mississippian\u2019s own Jim Henson<\/strong>, at OFF to the DRIVE-IN and hosting Miss Junteenth<\/em> as well as providing free pizza from Dodo Pizza to create some sort of Juneteenth celebration for Oxford, to our Weekly Virtual Film Festival supporting artists from around the world, we are busy over at Oxford Film Festival shining a light on what makes our town truly special: the love of the arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A comedic thriller about an SAT tutor who’s hired by a wealthy woman to murder her husband’s houseplant. It’s about how we choose to spend our time, how possessive we are of other people’s time, and how dangerous and seductive the phenomenon of “novelty” can be.
