The Yoknapatawpha Arts Council<\/strong>, in an effort to help local artists and arts organizations that have lost revenue due to the Coronavirus causing performances to be cancelled, is launching Stay@Home Festival.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To highlight the talents of local artists,\u00a0Stay@Home Festival<\/a>, will feature online concerts, art exhibits, live streamed shows, talks with artists, and premieres. These events will highlight talent and offer everyone the chance to enjoy the creative voices of our community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are encouraged to order a local meal, tune into our live steams, and keep Oxford odd (and healthy).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The online festival will provide free content with a tip option to support the local artist or organizations and an online store allowing you to make a purchase that supports the artist and have it delivered to your home.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artists, musicians, actors are all going to be impacted by this shut down. They don\u2019t earn salaries but make their living performing. We need to ensure that when we emerge from this pandemic that we have supported those whose livelihood defines our community and is most impacted by dramatic events of this nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donate to ensure our cultural organizations and artists can weather this storm!<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

YAC established the J.E. Pitts<\/strong> artist fund ten year ago to support the work of artists in our community by providing funds to create, produce works and to launch businesses. Funds from this grant have helped local artist create new works, perform at national music events, buy supplies, and launch new events that enrich our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the 10th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of founding the J.E. Pitts’ Fund<\/strong>, the Pitts family has donated the entire collection of Jimmy Pitts’ work to the Arts Council to support this fund and continue the work of supporting local artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YAC will be offering grants to local artists hit by the cancelling of events, performances, and shows due the coronavirus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A donation now to support local artists during this time will help ensure when our community emerges from this emergency that it will still be able to quickly return to being the place we love. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For each donation of $20 or more, you will receive a small work of art by Jimmy (examples listed above) mailed to you to show your support for keeping Oxford <\/strong>and Lafayette <\/strong>a thriving creative community that cares.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
