On Tuesday, December 17, 2019, investigators received information from the New Albany Police Department<\/strong> that Joshua Woods<\/strong> (21 of New Albany, Mississippi<\/strong>) was possibly one of the other suspects involved in Monday night\u2019s home invasion. Investigators were able to tie Woods to the shooting and he was arrested the following day by New Albany PD. Woods and Jalen Foote<\/strong> were taken before a Justice Court Judge and given a bond of $250,000. This is still an ongoing investigation and more arrests are expected. The shooting victim is currently listed in stable condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Wednesday, December 18, 2019, the Oxford Police Department<\/strong> received three separate reports of a residential burglary. Through an investigation a person of interest was identified. That evening, Anna Claire Williams<\/strong> (23 of Meridian<\/strong>, Mississippi), turned herself into the Oxford Police Department. She cooperated with investigators to retrieve the stolen items. She was placed under arrest and booked into to the Lafayette County Detention Center<\/strong>. On Thursday, December 19, 2019, Williams was taken before Lafayette County Justice Court Judge and received a bond of $20,000.00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, December 15, 2019, officers with the Oxford Police Department were dispatched to Oxford Square Townhomes<\/strong> located on Jackson Avenue <\/strong>after two people reported they were robbed at gunpoint. Officers with the University Police Department<\/strong> and OPD were able to locate Brandeis Pettis<\/strong> (18 of Oxford<\/strong>, Mississippi) and Kylon Gillom<\/strong> (18 of Abbeville<\/strong>, Mississippi) leaving the area. Both men were detained and investigators were called to the scene to investigate. Pettis and Gillom were subsequently arrested for armed robbery and taken before a Justice Court Judge where they were each given a bond of $15,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, December 17, 2019, the Oxford Police Department arrested Shauntarius Thomas<\/strong> (18 of Oxford, Mississippi) for sexual battery. On December 2, 2019, the Oxford Police Department took a report from a victim who said they were sexually assaulted by Thomas. \u00a0After an investigation an arrest warrant was issued for Thomas. Thomas turned himself and was booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center. He was given a bond of $6,000 by a Justice Court Judge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, December 10, 2019, the Oxford Police Department arrested Daisha Hudson<\/strong> (27 of Oxford, Mississippi) for false pretenses. On November 27, 2019, the Oxford Police Department took a report from Wal-Mart<\/strong> where Hudson had bought a computer but turned around and put an old computer in the box and got a refund. Hudson was taken before a Justice Court Judge and given a bond of $1,500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, December 10, 2019, the Oxford Police Department arrested Samaki Buford<\/strong> (22 of Oxford, Mississippi) for credit card fraud. On November 29, 2019, the Oxford Police Department took a report from a victim about her credit card being used by a former employee. The victim named Buford as the suspect and showed several unauthorized transactions that Buford was accused of doing. The victim signed charges on Buford and he turned himself in on December 10, 2019. Buford was given a bond of $1,500.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 26, 2019, Officers with the Oxford Police Department took a report from a small business owner who stated during the evening of October 25, 2019, four of his employees demanded more money from him than he wanted to pay for their work. The victim stated the two of the employees pushed him to the ground and all four hit and kicked him. One of the employees pulled a gun and forced him to pay them the money they were owed via Cash App. The victim identified his attackers as Laterrion Burdette<\/strong> (21 of Batesville<\/strong>, Mississippi), Justin Newson<\/strong> (32 of Horn Lake<\/strong>, Mississippi) and Tony Cooper<\/strong> (22 of Horn Lake, Mississippi). Arrest warrants for armed robbery were issued at that time. All three suspects were arrested between December 13th<\/sup>\u00a0and December 16th<\/sup>\u00a0with help of the Desoto County Sheriff\u2019s Department<\/strong>. They were transported back to the Lafayette County Detention Center and given a bond of $25,000. This case is on-going and another arrest is expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
