Grammy nominee and Emmy winner Greg Barnhill<\/strong> will be giving a seminar at 12:30 pm, at the Small Hall<\/strong> located at 1109 Van Buren Avenue<\/strong>, on the Oxford, Mississippi Square<\/strong>, on being creative in finding revenue streams as a songwriter and musician. Greg is a respected teacher with been-there-done-that authority, who speaks about specific details, not just generalities and philosophies. Local musicians and songwriters are encouraged to attend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greg will be the judge for the Small Hall 3rd<\/sup> Annual Songwriters Contest<\/strong> finals, which will be this Saturday, January 18<\/strong>, from 7 to 9 pm<\/strong>. He will perform a short set during the show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trisha Yearwood<\/strong> received a Grammy<\/strong> nomination with Barnhill’s song  \u201cWalkaway Joe.\u201d Don Henley<\/strong> sang backing vocals, and Matthew McConaughey<\/strong> played the title character in the music video. Amy Grant<\/strong> and Vince Gill<\/strong> met and fell in love when they recorded Greg\u2019s song \u201cHouse Of Love,\u201d as a duet. The song became a huge crossover hit for the two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greg\u2019s songs have been recorded by an incredibly eclectic list of music stars, including Etta James, Martina McBride, Chicago, Jessica Simpson, Kelly Clarkson, Ricky Skaggs,<\/strong> and many, many more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greg has been nominated for three Emmys, including the Today Show<\/em> theme \u201cToday Is Your Day,\u201dwhich won the award for \u201cBest Original Song.\u201d He has also written theme songs for the New Orleans Saints, NASCAR, The View<\/strong>, and many other shows and national ad campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A consummate performer in his own right, he has shared the stage with the likes of Michael McDonald, The Neville Brothers<\/strong>, and many others. You\u2019ve also heard his voice singing on hit records by stars like Tim McGraw, Toby Keith<\/strong>, and theme songs for numerous TV shows, including shows such as The View<\/em> and Baywatch<\/em>, TV ad campaigns, and movie soundtracks.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
