New GRAMMY Museum\u00ae exhibit, sponsored by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi celebrates some of country music’s leading ladies.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

On November 2 GRAMMY Museum\u00ae Mississippi <\/strong>debuted their latest special exhibit, Stronger Together: The Power of Women in Country Music<\/strong>, sponsored by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi<\/strong>. The exhibit opened to the public the day following the Museum\u2019s first-ever Gala celebrating its first recipient of the Crossroads of American Music award\u2014 Charley Pride<\/strong>. The exhibit is open now through August 23, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to country music, women have always been a part of the genre\u2014from the Carter Family<\/strong> and Kitty Wells<\/strong> to Tammy Wynette<\/strong>, Patsy Cline<\/strong>, Dolly Parton<\/strong>, Alison Krauss<\/strong>, Faith Hill<\/strong>, Trisha Yearwood<\/strong>, Carrie Underwood<\/strong>, The Dixie Chicks<\/strong>, Taylor Swift<\/strong>, Maren Morris<\/strong>, Kacey Musgraves<\/strong>, Brandi Carlile<\/strong>, and more. Though the impact of many of these women has been apparent in today\u2019s world of modern country music, the story of women in country music is far from over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developed by the Cleveland Music Foundation\u2014a nonprofit organization founded in 2011\u2014the 28,000-square-foot GRAMMY Museum Mississippi is housed near the campus of Delta State University<\/strong>, home of the Delta Music Institute<\/strong>‘s Entertainment Industry Studies<\/strong> program, which features the most unique audio recording facilities in the South. Affiliated with the Recording AcademyTM<\/strong>, GRAMMY Museum Mississippi is dedicated to exploring the past, present, and future of music, and the cultural context from which it emerges, while casting a focused spotlight on the deep musical roots of Mississippi.
