The main event includes a flash writing contest where participants are tasked with producing a short piece of work using their Faulkner-related topic. Other activities for the weekend include exclusive tours of the new <strong>Rare Square Books<\/strong> with <strong>Richard Howorth<\/strong>, A Faulkner Graveside Toast, a Pipe Class with <strong>Spring Street Cigars<\/strong>, a <strong>High Cotton<\/strong> Bourbon Class, a Faulkner Scavenger Hunt and the 70th anniversary screening of <strong><em>Intruder in the Dust<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants in the flash writing contest will be given a topic either in person or via email at 10 am on Friday, October 11, 2019. The location for the topic reveal and contest kick off is the <strong>Chancellor&#8217;s House<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contestants will write a narrative nonfiction or essay between 800 and 1,200 words inspired by Mississippi. Submission may include a high resolution photo that compliments the submission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This is not a faux Faulkner contest. Participants do not need to emulate Faulkner&#8217;s style, settings, or characters. Participants are invited and encouraged to attend other literary events happening throughout the weekend!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Flash Faulkner Writing Contest sponsored by Oxford Magazine<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Write a story inspired by Faulkner\u2019s Mississippi.
