Featuring three days of live music, food, and plenty of education about original Cotton Patch Soul Blues Boy Junior Kimbrough, this festival is an interactive, unfiltered cultural experience held in Junior&#8217;s home town of Holly Springs, Mississippi\u2014the city with all kinds of character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hut an American Legion, cinder block building makes do as an excellent part-time <strong>Juke Joint<\/strong>, a fast-fading tradition on the modern day landscape of Mississippi Blues. A comfortable, familiar atmosphere for mesmerizing, trance-inducing, raw, electric, cotton patch soul blues to be created and heard. The Kimbroughs\u2019 style of blues is a tradition developed by their father, Junior, and&nbsp; carried on by Robert, <strong>David,<\/strong> and <strong>Kent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"927\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/KCPSBF-2019-Exhibit-Postcard.jpg?resize=640%2C927\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-75839\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FRIDAY, MAY 17<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>KICK OFF<\/strong> <em><strong>(4\u20136 pm)<\/strong><\/em><br><strong>Leontyne Price Library Gallery<\/strong><br>Rust College<br>100 Rust Ave, Holly Springs, Miss.<br>Exhibit runs until June 15, 2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>The Women Who Captured Junior Kimbrough<\/em><\/strong><br>Photos by <strong>Yancey Allison<\/strong>, <strong>Lauri Lawson<\/strong><br>Never before exhibited photos of <strong>Chulahoma<\/strong> by Yancey Allison, a Como photographer who began photographing Chulahoma in the early 1990s and&nbsp; returned in the late 90s. Yancey is a personal friend of David Jr. and Kent Kimbrough. She recently discovered lost prints through the magic of digital photography. <strong>Lauri Lawson<\/strong> was a regular contributor to <strong><em>Living Blues<\/em><\/strong> magazine in the late 1980s. Lil\u2019 Joe was Junior Kimbrough\u2019s guitarist and bass player for 30 years. Joe appears on the <strong>High Water<\/strong> LP <strong><em>Do The Romp<\/em><\/strong>, and is seen in the film <strong><em>Deep Blues<\/em><\/strong>. This is an incredible opportunity for anyone to learn the secrets of Cotton Patch Soul Blues, not just schooled musicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mississippi Country Breakfast With All The Fixins<\/strong>  <em><strong>(7\u201310 am)<\/strong><\/em><br>Roberts favorite meal of the day. Start your day Robert\u2019s way, FULL.<br>$5<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>All day Cotton Patch Soul Blues Guitar Workshop <\/strong><em><strong>(10 am\u20134 pm)<\/strong><\/em><strong><br><\/strong>Robert Kimbrough Sr. teaches bass guitar, David Jr. shares his father&#8217;s guitar style and his own. Kent will give drum instruction. Learn her ways for a melt-in-your-mouth fish sandwich. <br>$20; lunch included<br>Limited to 10<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Juke Joint Dance Lessons<\/strong> <em><strong>(1\u20133 pm)<\/strong><\/em><br>The Hut<br>#1 Juke Joint Dancer Ms. <strong>Sherena Boyce<\/strong>, daughter of Mississippi Blues legend <strong>RL Boyce<\/strong>, demonstrates subtle suggestive dance moves, and advises students how to develop their own style. <br>$10<br>limited to 20 students<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Saturday Night Jam with the Legends <em>(7 pm\u20132 am)<\/em><\/strong><br>The Hut<br>Students are invited up to jam with the legends. Saturday&#8217;s workshop students flex their new skills in an unfiltered Juke Joint atmosphere with the Kimbroughs.
