Since emerging from Atlanta in the early \u201900s, the quintet\u2014vocalist\/lead guitarist <strong>Charlie Starr<\/strong>, guitarist\/vocalist <strong>Paul Jackson<\/strong>, bassist\/vocalist <strong>Richard Turner<\/strong>, drummer <strong>Brit Turner,<\/strong> and keyboardist <strong>Brandon Still<\/strong>\u2014has become known for a singular sound indebted to classic rock, blues, country and folk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Blackberry-Smoke.jpg?resize=580%2C386\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-64012\" width=\"580\" height=\"386\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This fluidity has paid off handsomely, in the form of\ntwo Billboard chart-topping country albums, 2015\u2019s <strong><em>Holding All The Roses<\/em><\/strong> and\n2016\u2019s <strong><em>Like An Arrow<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Blackberry\nSmoke<\/strong> will continue their\n\u201c<strong>Find A Light<\/strong>\u201d headline tour in 2019 with a stop at Oxford\u2019s <strong>Lyric Theater<\/strong> on Thursday, January 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\ntour celebrates a landmark year for Blackberry Smoke, which saw the release of\ntheir sixth-studio album, <strong><em>Find A Light,<\/em><\/strong> as well as a new acoustic\nEP, <strong><em>The Southern Ground Sessions<\/em><\/strong>. <em>Find\nA Light<\/em> was released last April and debuted as the best-selling\nCountry and Americana\/Folk album in the country and entered at #3 on the <em>Billboard<\/em>\nTop Country Albums chart and #2 on the <em>Billboard<\/em>Americana\/Folk Albums\nchart. Of the album, NPR Music praises, \u201c\u2026<em>Find\na Light<\/em> pushes the envelope while providing that\nfamous Blackberry Smoke autonomy,\ndelivered with soulful vocals, haunting harmonies and kick ass songs,\u201d while <em>Relix\n<\/em>declares, \u201cBlackberry Smoke have long\nbeen heirs to the road-warrior mantle established by their classic-rock and\ncountry heroes. And, with their sixth full-length album, <em>Find A Light<\/em>, the quintet has now firmly established an authentic\nlegacy of their own.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the album\u2019s release, Blackberry Smoke returned to\nthe studio and recorded <em>The\nSouthern Ground Sessions<\/em>. &nbsp;Created as an accompaniment to <em>Find A Light<\/em>,\nthe six-song EP was recorded live at <strong>Southern Ground Studio<\/strong> in <strong>Nashville<\/strong>\nand features acoustic versions of five album tracks as well as a rendition of <strong>Tom Petty<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cYou Got Lucky\u201d featuring <strong>Amanda Shires<\/strong>. Of the EP, <em>Rolling\nStone<\/em><em> Country<\/em> praises, \u201cBlackberry Smoke\u2019s crunchy Southern rock may be made\nfor fuzzed-out electric guitars, but their songs sure do translate well to\nbeing played acoustically,\u201d while <em>Guitar World<\/em> states, \u201cWith the new EP,\na band that has defied critics to pigeonhole them have further proven that\nthere is no one genre that can contain their versatile sound.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since their debut in 2004, the band has independently released six full-length records and has toured relentlessly, building a strong and loyal community of fans.
