Britt Blvd. for a reported crash involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived and found an unresponsive male, <strong>Andrew Brown<\/strong> (47 of <strong>Oxford, Mississippi<\/strong>), in the roadway. The Oxford Fire Department was already on scene performing life saving measures on Brown. EMS also arrived and assisted OFD. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Unfortunately, Mr. Brown was not able to overcome his injuries and died on scene.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The driver of the vehicle, <strong>Nicholas Welch<\/strong> (21 of <strong>Little Rock, Arkansas<\/strong>), was on scene when officers arrived. After an investigation was conducted a blood warrant was issued for Welch. Welch was subsequently taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he is currently charged with DUI 1st. His bond is set at $1,118.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The Mississippi Highway Patrol Accident Reconstruction Team has been contacted to reconstruct the wreck. OPD Investigators are actively working the incident. The Lafayette County Coroner\u2019s Office has transported the body of Mr. Brown to the Mississippi State Medical Examiner\u2019s Office for an autopsy.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/TheLocalVoiceLigature-25web.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"25\" height=\"16\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14544\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/TheLocalVoiceLigature-25web.jpg?resize=25%2C16\" alt=\"The Local Voice Ligature\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On\u00a0Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at approximately 6:27 PM, the Oxford Police Department responded to Ricky D.
