On Sunday, November 4, 2018, at approximately 3:28 PM, Oxford, Mississippi Police<\/strong> officers\u00a0<\/span>responded to a residence on South Lamar for a domestic disturbance.\u00a0<\/span>Once officers responded, they found that the victim wielded a weapon in\u00a0<\/span>defense to stop the assault.\"\"<\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n

During the course of the investigation,\u00a0<\/span>officers were given consent to search the residence where they\u00a0<\/span>discovered modified weapons and two possible pipe bombs. The house\u00a0<\/span>was evacuated and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Explosives, Federal Bureau of Investigations<\/strong>, and the Tupelo Police\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Bomb Unit<\/strong> were all called and reported to the scene.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once a search warrant was obtained the Tupelo Bomb Unit entered\u00a0<\/span>the residence and secured the devices. Officers along with federal agents\u00a0<\/span>conducted a more detailed search of the property where multiple\u00a0<\/span>weapons, ammunition, narcotics and paraphernalia were discovered.<\/span><\/p>\n

The suspect, Kristopher Austin Griste<\/strong>, 22 years old of Oxford, Mississippi has\u00a0<\/span>been charged with Domestic Violence – Simple Assault. Other weapons\u00a0<\/span>charges are pending and no bond has been set at this time. This case is active\u00a0<\/span>and ongoing.\u00a0\"The<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Update:<\/strong>\u00a0Griste was given a $2,292.00 bond this afternoon for the charges of Domestic Violence \u2013 Simple Assault and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Any charges related to firearms or explosives will be handled by the ATF.
