{"id":49257,"date":"2018-10-15T18:29:28","date_gmt":"2018-10-16T00:29:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=49257"},"modified":"2018-10-15T18:30:44","modified_gmt":"2018-10-16T00:30:44","slug":"oxford-mississippi-man-arrested-for-six-counts-of-auto-burglary-and-felony-fleeing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/oxford-mississippi-man-arrested-for-six-counts-of-auto-burglary-and-felony-fleeing\/","title":{"rendered":"Oxford, Mississippi Man Arrested for Six Counts of Auto Burglary and Felony Fleeing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Investigators with the <strong>Oxford Police Department<\/strong> have been working several auto burglaries around the walking trails on Chucky Mullins Drive for the past couple of months. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">On Friday, October 12, 2018, around 12:46 pm, investigators located a person of interest parked on Chucky Mullins Drive and began surveilling him. They soon watched <strong>Allen Mathis<\/strong> (22 of <strong>Oxford, Mississippi<\/strong>) enter a vehicle and steal a purse. As investigators moved in to make an arrest he jumped into his vehicle and fled. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">While fleeing, he struck an unmarked investigator vehicle. Mathis continued on to Hwy 6 eastbound where he struck another vehicle (non-law enforcement). Investigators tried to get him to stop but deemed the actions of Mathis unsafe and terminated the pursuit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">A short while later Mathis\u2019 vehicle was found abandoned behind a residence on CR 300. Later in the day, a citizen saw a male walking through backyards in a subdivision on South Lamar and then get into a vehicle. This was called into the Oxford Police Department and a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle were Mathis was taken into custody without incident.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Mathis was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center and booked for six (6) counts of auto burglary and one (1) count of felony fleeing in a motor vehicle. Mathis\u2019 bond was set at $100,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
