\"\"<\/a>The Oxford Police Department<\/strong> along with the\u00a0Lafayette County Coroner\u2019s Office<\/strong> announce the arrest of two women connected in\u00a0<\/span>the 2017 death of an elderly male from the Mississippi State Veterans Home<\/strong> in\u00a0Oxford, Mississippi. <\/span><\/p>\n

On April 15, 2017 medical personnel from the Regional One Trauma\u00a0Center in Memphis, TN contacted officers regarding the health and welfare of\u00a0Durley Bratton<\/strong> (age 93 of Oxford, MS). <\/span><\/p>\n

Bratton was a World War II veteran living\u00a0at the VA facility at the time. The Criminal Investigations Division at OPD led the\u00a0<\/span>investigation on abuse related to injuries suffered by Bratton. Investigators were\u00a0able to identify two employees of the Mississippi State Veterans Home, Jeanee\u00a0Dunn<\/strong> (age 25 of Oxford, Mississippi<\/strong>) and Bridget Austin<\/strong> (age 41 of \"\"<\/a>Abbeville<\/strong>, Mississippi), as\u00a0persons of interest.<\/span><\/p>\n

While the investigation was under way, Bratton succumbed to his injuries\u00a0and was pronounced deceased on April 18, 2017. Bratton\u2019s body was taken to the\u00a0Mississippi State Medical Examiner\u2019s Office for an autopsy. On July 2, 2018, the\u00a0autopsy results came back and ruled the death a result of blunt force injuries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Investigators filed affidavits of arrest and warrants on Dunn and Austin. Dunn was\u00a0arrested July 2, 2018 and Austin was arrested July 9, 2018. They were both\u00a0transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center to await their initial\u00a0appearance for the charge of Manslaughter-Culpable Negligence. Dunn and Austin\u00a0both received bonds of $250,000 each for the charge of Manslaughter-Culpable\u00a0Negligence from Justice Court Judge Bell<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
