Mempho Music Festival<\/strong>, brought to you by Big River Presents<\/strong>, has\u00a0<\/span>announced the full lineup for its second edition, which will return to Memphis, Tennessee,<\/strong> on October 6\u20137, 2018. Nestled in\u00a0<\/span>the heart of Shelby Farms Park<\/strong>, Mempho Fest blends today’s top performers with Memphis’ rich musical history, creating a festival<\/span>
\nexperience filled with music, food, and nature for people of all ages. This year, for the first time ever at Shelby Farms Park, camping\u00a0<\/span>and \u201cglamping\u201d options will be available.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second-annual Mempho Fest will feature headlining performances from Grammy Award winners Beck<\/strong> and Phoenix<\/strong> on Saturday.\u00a0<\/span>On Sunday, modern hip-hop supernova Post Malone<\/strong> and the legendary MC, Nas<\/strong>, will head the bill. The full 2018 lineup proudly\u00a0<\/span>boasts Grammy-nominated funkstress and Prince<\/strong> prot\u00e9g\u00e9 Janelle Mon\u00e1e<\/strong>, indie-rock prince Mac DeMarco<\/strong>, German folk rockers\u00a0<\/span>Milky Chance,<\/strong> Atlanta-based rapper Rich The Kid<\/strong>, and iconic funk-music collective George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic<\/strong>. Also\u00a0<\/span>joining the 2018 lineup are nationally recognized acts Larkin Poe<\/strong>, Sam Lewis<\/strong>, The Como Mamas<\/strong>, and a new supergroup dubbed\u00a0<\/span>Danny Barnes\u2019 Space Program<\/strong>, featuring banjo virtuoso Danny Barnes, drummer Jeff Sipe<\/strong>, guitarist Mike Seal<\/strong>, and bassist Eric\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Thorin<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Derived from Memphis\u2019 vibrant music scene, fans will be treated to legendary hometown get-downs from Juicy J<\/strong>, Project Pat<\/strong>, Lucero<\/strong><\/span>, Eric Gales<\/strong>, The Bar-Kays<\/strong>, Don Bryant & The Bo-Keys<\/strong>, Big Ass Truck<\/strong>, John Nemeth & The Love Light Orchestra<\/strong>, Boo Mitchell\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>& The Kings<\/strong>, Talibah Safiya<\/strong>, and Cory Branan<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, world-renowned keyboardist and The Rolling Stones<\/strong>\u2019 musical director Chuck Leavell<\/strong> will host a very special \u201cStones\u00a0<\/span>Throw\u201d set. The performance will explore the extensive catalog of The Rolling Stones and feature current and former backing band\u00a0<\/span>members of the pioneering rock act, including Bernard Fowler<\/strong> (vocals), Darryl Jones<\/strong> (bass), Tim Ries<\/strong> (sax), and Karl Denson<\/strong> (sax).<\/span><\/p>\n

Following the festival\u2019s inaugural Memphis tribute set last year, which honored Stax Records<\/strong>, the 2018 festival will honor its\u00a0<\/span>Memphis heritage with a tribute set dedicated to Royal Studios<\/strong>, one of the most iconic music recording studios in the world. Led by\u00a0<\/span>Grammy Award-winning producer Boo Mitchell<\/strong>\u2014son of Willie Mitchell<\/strong> (1928\u20132010), the founder of Royal Studios who hosted\u00a0<\/span>notable sessions with Al Green<\/strong>, Chuck Berry<\/strong>, and more\u2014the Royal Studios Tribute will feature Grammy Award winners William Bell<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>and Bobby Rush<\/strong>, Oscar Award winner Frayser Boy<\/strong>, and Grammy Award-nominated Hi Rhythm Section<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fifteen-year-old guitar phenom Brandon \u201cTaz\u201d Niederauer<\/strong> will serve as the weekend\u2019s artist-at-large. More artists TBA.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mempho Music Festival is the first major music festival held in the natural splendor of Shelby Farms Park, which plays host to diverse\u00a0<\/span>range of outdoor activities including biking, canoeing, zip lining, horseback riding, and more. Building off Mempho Fest\u2019s inaugural\u00a0<\/span>year, in 2018, the festival will offer multiple live music stages and an interactive dome that melds together the worlds of music, art,\u00a0<\/span>science, and design.<\/span><\/p>\n

New to 2018, Mempho Music Festival is partnering with the Memphis Area Women\u2019s Council<\/strong> to promote the Memphis Says NO\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>MORE<\/strong> campaign\u2014aimed at raising awareness for domestic violence and sexual assault\u2014by providing a safe, inclusive, and\u00a0<\/span>welcoming environment for all attendees. Mempho has also jumped on board the #BringYourSoul<\/strong> movement, celebrating the\u00a0<\/span>originality, soul, and change that Memphis is known for. Additionally, Mempho Music Festival has teamed up with the Oceanic\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Global Foundation<\/strong>\u2014a non-profit that educates individuals on issues impacting our ocean through art, music, and emerging\u00a0<\/span>technologies\u2014and is proud to take the pledge to go completely straw-free!<\/span><\/p>\n
