A.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Dameron<\/strong> maps a journey across emotional,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">spiritual, and geographic lines, from the familiarity\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">of the honeysuckle South to a new world, or a new\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">kingdom\u2014Harlem. Her poems traverse the streets\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">of this Black mecca with a careful eye cast toward\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">the intimacies of the exterior. And as the poet longs, so\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">do readers. Ultimately they grow aware of Utopia&#8217;s fragility.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">A native of <strong>Columbia, South Carolina<\/strong>, D\u00e9Lana R. A. Dameron is a writer and an arts and culture\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">administrator living in <strong>Brooklyn, New York<\/strong>. Dameron&#8217;s debut collection, <em>How God Ends Us<\/em>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">(University of South Carolina Press), was selected by <strong>Elizabeth Alexander<\/strong> for the 2008 South\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Carolina Poetry Book Prize. Dameron holds an M.F.A. in poetry from New York University and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">a B.A. in history from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
