The Oxford Film Festival<\/strong> will spend the month of April raising funds before launching movie screenings from May through November this year. The screenings will all be held for free based on the funds raised this April.<\/span><\/p>\n

On April 9, supporters can eat at Panera Bread<\/strong> on Jackson Avenue in Oxford from 4-8 pm with 20 percent of donations going to support the festival if the cashier is informed at time of purchase. A flyer is required and is available on the website at <\/span>www.oxfordfilmfest.com<\/span><\/a> to take in to the cashier. No additional donations are required, just a regular food purchase will help support the festival.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On April 17 at Southside Gallery<\/strong>, a live auction will be held at 6:30 pm including a wine and cheese reception. Proceeds from the auction of a rare Glennray Tutor<\/strong> painting plus private tour of his studio will go towards the Oxford Film Festival. The painting, Two Rooms<\/strong><\/em>, is acrylic on paper and is 15×20 inches and was completed in 1982. The winning bid will also receive a private tour of Tutor\u2019s art studio.<\/span><\/p>\n

From April 22\u201330, shoppers at Five Below<\/strong> can support the Oxford Film Festival by downloading the flyer on the website and taking it with you when buying at the store in the Oxford Galleria II<\/strong>. The flyer is available at <\/span>www.oxfordfilmfest.com<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The first of the free movie screenings will be presented on Thursday, May 4, at the Powerhouse <\/strong>and will feature the documentary Upstairs Inferno<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0at 6 pm as part of Pride Week.<\/strong>\u00a0Then the new Monday Movie Series<\/strong>\u00a0(see schedule below) in partnership with the Burns Belfry Multicultural Center<\/strong> and PBS POV<\/strong> series will take place.\u00a0Each film will be presented with a guest speaker and will be free for the community.
