RocknRoll heavyweights\u00a0John Fogerty<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0ZZ Top<\/strong>\u00a0will unite this spring for a joint “Blues and Bayous” tour in the United States<\/strong>. The show will come to Southaven, Mississippi<\/strong> at the BankPlus Amphitheater<\/strong> on Saturday, June 16, 2018. The music legends praised each other in a statement announcing the jaunt.<\/span><\/p>\n

As co-founder of Creedence Clearwater Revival<\/strong>,\u00a0Fogerty\u2019s\u00a0career spans 50 years and he is hailed as one of the most influential musicians in rock history. As the writer, singer and producer of numerous classic hits including \u201cBorn on the Bayou\u201d, \u201cGreen River\u201d, \u201cProud Mary\u201d, and \u201cBad Moon Rising\u201d, John Fogerty\u00a0has been honored as one of the 100 Greatest Guitarists, 100 Greatest Songwriters, and 100 Greatest Singers by\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/i>. Earning induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame<\/strong>, and Baseball Hall of Fame<\/strong>, he is also a New York Times<\/em> best-selling author for his memoir,\u00a0Fortunate Son: My Life, My Music<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

ZZ Top holds the distinction of being one of the longest running bands with the original line-up. Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill<\/strong> and Frank Beard<\/strong> reflect their Texas roots in everything with their non-stop rock and blues, resulting in over 50 million albums sold worldwide. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Keith Richards<\/strong> calling the band\u2019s relationship to the blues, \u201cthe heart of the matter.\u201d\u00a0\"ZZ<\/span><\/p>\n

“ZZ Top is one of my favorite bands, and Billy F Gibbons is one of my all-time favorite guitarists,” Fogerty said. “Riffs, blues and bayous … bucket list!”<\/span><\/p>\n

ZZ Top’s Gibbons added, “John Fogerty along with ZZ Top have been followers of blues and rock since the beginning, and we’re looking forward to rippin’ it up together this spring.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Fogerty released his most recent LP,\u00a0Wrote a Song for Everyone<\/i>, in 2013. In September, the former CCR<\/strong> frontman signed a new record contract with BMG<\/strong> encompassing a new album and reissues of his solo catalog.<\/span><\/p>\n

ZZ Top teamed with producer Rick Rubin (Slayer, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers)<\/strong>\u00a0for their 2012 studio LP,\u00a0La Futura<\/i>, and they released the live album\u00a0Tonite at Midnight: Live Greatest Hits From Around the World<\/i>\u00a0in 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n
