I can&#8217;t imagine what it would have been like, if we hadn&#8217;t had the music,&#8221; said <strong>Coretta Scott<\/strong> <strong>King<\/strong>, American author, activist, civil rights leader, and the wife of Dr. King.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/MLK_crop-1024x650-1024x650.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"406\" class=\"size-full wp-image-44843 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/MLK_crop-1024x650-1024x650.jpg?resize=640%2C406\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Friday, March 16 in the <strong>Sanders Soundstage<\/strong>, the Museum will celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the days leading up to the 50<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> anniversary since his tragic passing. Performances will range from folk to funk, from Southern gospel to deep soul, featuring GRAMMY winners <strong>William Bell<\/strong>, <strong>Bobby Rush<\/strong>, and <strong>Betty Wright,<\/strong> and GRAMMY nominee <strong>PJ Morton<\/strong>, backed by an all-star band of legendary studio musicians from the golden age of <strong>Stax Records<\/strong>. The multi-media event will feature never-before-screened interviews from the GRAMMY Living Histories archive featuring such icons of American music, culture, and politics as <strong>Al Bell<\/strong>, <strong>B.B. King<\/strong>, Coretta Scott King, and more.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;Martin Luther King, Jr. will forever be a part of Mississippi&#8217;s history,&#8221; said Executive Director <strong>Emily Havens<\/strong>.\u201c In 1966, King, along with other civil rights activists led the March Against Fear, the largest civil rights demonstration in the history of our state. We are proud to celebrate the legacy of a man who exemplified the timeless truths that love conquers all and that everyone should be treated equally.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">GRAMMY Museum Mississippi is located at 800 W Sunflower Road, Cleveland, MS 38732. The event will start at 7 pm, and doors will open at 6:30 pm.
