Armed with an arsenal of new instruments and equipment, an ever-growing sense of \u201cahhh f**k it,\u201d two years of exploration, and a wicked sense of humor,\u00a0<em>LONER<\/em>\u00a0is a set of serious songs wrapped in a sprightly, angst-fueled pop burrito.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Following the release of first single,\u00a0<strong>\u201cMoney,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>Rose presents\u00a0<strong>\u201cSoul No. 5,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>which, along with the rest of\u00a0<em>LONER<\/em>, captures the cheeky satire, comical musings, and often jarring mood swings that make up much of Rose\u2019s personality.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u201c\u2019Soul No. 5\u2019 was inspired by being catcalled and how weird and kind of funny it is. I find the machismo nature of catcallers kind of hilarious, so I thought it&#8217;d be funny to act out the part of a cocky catcaller who in reality isn&#8217;t all that impressive. Kind of like \u2018No Scrubs\u2019 by TLC.\u201d\u00a0Rose explains further, \u201cWhen I originally wrote this song the lyrics were much different, and I&#8217;d kind of grown tired of how earnest they were. In fact, the title, \u2018Soul No. 5,\u2019 is poking fun at how many versions of this song I&#8217;ve done. I also like that it is sort of reminiscent of \u2018Mambo No. 5.\u2019&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The accompanying video, which Rose directed herself, brings out the humor and satire in the song. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cI think the visuals can really enhance some elements that might get lost on listeners, humor being one of them. I had a particular vision to make this video slightly parodic, like a mix between a &#8217;90s rap video and Napoleon Dynamite.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zzIfmtKSLTE\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em>Caroline Rose will be opening for <strong>Ron Gallo<\/strong> at <strong>Proud Larry&#8217;s<\/strong> on Saturday, January 13.
