The Last Earth Girl<\/em> is a local independent film currently being finished, that was directed and produced by Ole Miss<\/strong>\u00a0alum Jim Weter<\/strong> and featuring Dr. Jim Shollenberger<\/strong>, who taught cinema production at the Ole Miss Theatre Department<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Last Earth Girl<\/em> tells the story of a young woman struggling to decide what is important to her in life when it is announced that the world will end in 7 years. The film is currently 99% complete and was shot entirely in the Memphis<\/strong> and Mid-South area. The Last Earth Girl<\/em> also features an entirely local cast and crew, including local Oxford actors Greg Earnest<\/strong>, Meaghin Burke<\/strong>, and the former instructor of Cinema Arts in the Theatre Department at Ole Miss, Dr. Jim Shollenberger. Dr. Shollenberger portrayed one of the main supporting characters in the film and finished production before he passed away. In honor of Dr. Jim Shollenberger and the impact he had on the director, Jim Weter, the film will be dedicated to him.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u201cDr. Jim Shollenberger was my first film instructor and became a good friend while I attended Ole Miss,” said Weter. “I moved to Memphis after my time there and continued to create films and was very excited when I was able to reconnect with Jim during the production of The Last Earth Girl. He did an amazing job on the film and I\u2019m very grateful to have gotten the opportunity to work with him again\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Last Earth Girl<\/em> is currently 99% complete with the exception of a few crucial CG or visual effects shots. We are currently running a 30 day campaign, which started on Jan 1st, to help raise the funds needed to finish our film and begin sending it out to audiences and film festivals.
