{"id":43656,"date":"2017-12-27T12:41:53","date_gmt":"2017-12-27T18:41:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=43656"},"modified":"2017-12-27T12:41:53","modified_gmt":"2017-12-27T18:41:53","slug":"fundraiser-thursday-december-28-at-proud-larrys-for-ole-miss-freshman-malcom-gooch-who-is-fighting-lymphoma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/fundraiser-thursday-december-28-at-proud-larrys-for-ole-miss-freshman-malcom-gooch-who-is-fighting-lymphoma\/","title":{"rendered":"Fundraiser Thursday, December 28 at Proud Larry&#8217;s for Ole Miss Freshman Malcom Gooch, Who Is Fighting Lymphoma"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Proud Larry&#8217;s<\/strong> in <strong>Oxford, Mississippi<\/strong> is hosting a fundraiser on <strong>Thursday, December 28<\/strong>, for\u00a018-year-old <strong>Ole Miss<\/strong> freshman and\u00a0<strong>Oxford High School\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18.6667px;\">graduate<\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">,\u00a0Malcom Gooch<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Gooch was diagnosed with\u00a0Stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in October after his family began noticing significant changes in his appetite and weight loss.\u00a0<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"567\" height=\"660\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-43658\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/VinylVipers.png?resize=567%2C660\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">After his diagnosis he had to withdraw from school due to the urgency of his treatment needs. He is currently receiving chemotherapy at <strong>St. Jude<\/strong> in <strong>Memphis, Tennessee<\/strong>. Both of his parents, <strong>Tim Gooch<\/strong> and <strong>Lainy Day<\/strong>, are employees at Ole Miss and reside in Oxford.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">According to the Family&#8217;s GoFundMe page, &#8220;St. Jude has been incredible, but the expenses incurred before getting there were great, and many expenses one might not consider in this situation continue to grow. \u00a0As you can imagine, this family is experiencing a very difficult season in their lives.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The vinyl-only disc jockey collective <strong>Vinyl Vipers<\/strong> will be the night&#8217;s entertainment on December 28.
