The Oxford Film Festival<\/strong>\u00a0(OFF)<\/strong> has been awarded a $575\u00a0<\/span>grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC)<\/strong>. This grant is a portion of the $1.3\u00a0<\/span>million in grants the Commission will award in 2017\u20132018 and will be used to pay the\u00a0<\/span>registration fee for the Film Festival Alliance<\/strong> annual conference which will allow OFF Executive Director\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Melanie Addington<\/strong> to provide a presentation on OFF at the\u00a0<\/span>ArtHouse Convergence<\/strong> before Sundance Film Festival<\/strong> in Utah this January. The\u00a0<\/span>grants are made possible by continued funding from the Mississippi State Legislature<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>and the National Endowment for the Arts<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cArts organizations throughout the state of Mississippi play a pivotal role in\u00a0<\/span>sharing the power of the arts with people from all walks of life,\u201d said Malcolm White<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/span>executive director of MAC. \u201cThe arts are for everyone, and the Mississippi Arts\u00a0<\/span>Commission is pleased to support arts organizations committed to growing the<\/span>
\npresence of the arts in their communities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Oxford Film Festival will be one of ten organizations highlighted at the\u00a0<\/span>ArtHouse Convergence annual conference. The Art House Convergence began in 2006\u00a0<\/span>when the Sundance Institute invited 14 Art House theaters to the 2006 Sundance Film\u00a0<\/span>Festival. Now with hundreds of attendees including festival directors from across the\u00a0<\/span>globe, the 2018 Annual Conference will take place January 15\u201318, 2018 in Midway,\u00a0<\/span>Utah. Melanie Addington will be presenting at The ArtHouse Tales seminar on\u00a0 he\u00a0<\/span>history of Oxford Film Festival.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mississippi Arts Commission, a state agency, serves the residents of the\u00a0<\/span>state by providing grants that support programs to enhance communities; assist artists\u00a0<\/span>and arts organizations; promote the arts in education and celebrate Mississippi\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>cultural heritage. Established in 1968, the Mississippi Arts Commission is funded by the\u00a0<\/span>
\nMississippi Legislature, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Mississippi\u00a0<\/span>Endowment for the Arts at the Community Foundation of Greater Jackson and other\u00a0<\/span>private sources. The agency serves as an active supporter and promoter of arts in\u00a0<\/span>community life and in arts education.<\/span><\/p>\n
