{"id":43327,"date":"2017-12-06T13:03:28","date_gmt":"2017-12-06T19:03:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=43327"},"modified":"2017-12-06T13:27:13","modified_gmt":"2017-12-06T19:27:13","slug":"southside-gallery-hosts-exhibit-of-robert-malones-paintings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/southside-gallery-hosts-exhibit-of-robert-malones-paintings\/","title":{"rendered":"Southside Gallery Hosts Exhibit of Robert Malone&#8217;s Paintings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Robert Malone<\/strong> will feature over thirty of his celebrated landscape paintings in his December exhibition at <strong>Southside Gallery<\/strong>.\u00a0 The title of the exhibition,\u00a0<strong>Passages<\/strong>,\u00a0describes the nature of most of the paintings, which are wetland landscapes.\u00a0 These landscapes depict meandering rivers, streams and other bodies of water that serve as passages of travel, but the title has other connotations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/malone2.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-43328\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/malone2.jpg?resize=300%2C400\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a>Malone\u2019s paintings are also about spiritual passages.\u00a0 There is an oneness with the world Malone conveys in his paintings, giving them a celestial quality.\u00a0 Malone\u2019s landscapes are meditative milieus, not simply depictions.\u00a0 A photograph can\u2019t capture the essence of the painter\u2019s expression.\u00a0 Through Malone\u2019s eyes we see the search for God, for heaven on earth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Robert Malone received his MFA from the <strong>University of Mississippi<\/strong> and his BFA from the <strong>Memphis College of Art<\/strong>. Since 1997, he has been an Assistant Professor at the University of Mississippi. His work is exhibited and collected nationally.
