This event will celebrate the lives of those who came before us through a memorial roll call, All Souls Altar, food, and drink. This memorialization encourages us to celebrate life rather than mourn death. Bright colors, smiling faces, and fun dress are welcome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Blessing<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Father Joe Tonos<\/strong> from <strong>Oxford\u2019s Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church<\/strong> will give a blessing at <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1131087336\"><span class=\"aQJ\">6 pm<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Come a few minutes early for to take part in the observance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Potluck<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Sharing food and drink is at the root of many strong and empathetic community gatherings. Feel free to bring your departed loved one\u2019s favorite dish or drink to share in memory of them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Memorial Roll Call<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">We encourage you to submit a name of a loved one who is no longer with us in this life for the Memorial Roll Call. The list will be called out by the event\u2019s emcees at sundown. Those who have submitted names are encouraged to recognize their departed by answering when the name is called. This is a tradition to honor those who are in our hearts and minds, though they may have moved on from this physical realm. The submission form is <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSfl2N8K1DO68xbrJ89Lp00edeC-52-V6YxAx3KpU1rwxovRNQ\/viewform?usp=sf_link\">here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>All Souls Altar<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">We will also have an All Souls Altar set up on our back porch. This space will be for remembrances and offerings to those who have departed. These remembrances may include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Photos or images<\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Favorite items (jewelry, books, art, music, small knick-knacks, tchotchkes, etc)<\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Flowers<\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Prayer candles<\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Votive candles<\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Names, prayers, thoughts, poems, or memories written on folded\/rolled papers<\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Water<\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Bread and salt<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Oxford Treehouse Gallery is excited for this first Day of the Dead celebration and hopes to continue the tradition for years to come.
