{"id":41332,"date":"2017-08-24T12:33:56","date_gmt":"2017-08-24T18:33:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=41332"},"modified":"2017-08-24T12:33:56","modified_gmt":"2017-08-24T18:33:56","slug":"ips-group-and-city-of-oxford-call-parking-meters-on-square-a-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/ips-group-and-city-of-oxford-call-parking-meters-on-square-a-success\/","title":{"rendered":"IPS Group and City of Oxford Call Parking Meters on Square a Success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">IPS Group, based out of San Diego, recently released <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parking-net.com\/parking-news\/ips-group-inc\/paid-parking-implementation-oxford\">an update<\/a> on their installation of the parking meters on The Square.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The City of Oxford accepted the bid made by IPS, who specialize in smart parking meters that don&#8217;t require additional infrastructure as they are solar powered and communicate through wifi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cThe implementation of parking meters in our downtown square has been an overwhelming success. The revenue generated has exceeded our expectations. However, more importantly they have helped create access where it was once limited,\u201d states <strong>Mike Harris<\/strong>, Downtown Parking Advisory Commision member.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The annual revenue generated by the parking meters is just over $500,000, which is on the high end of the potential earnings for the installation.
