With the start of the school semester, Proud Larrys<\/strong>\u2019<\/strong> has a stellar music pairing for the year. Larry\u2019s kicks off the weekend with the return of Flow Tribe<\/strong> for the first time in over two years. Flow Tribe is a New Orleans<\/strong> staple, who frequently play Tipitina<\/strong>\u2019s<\/strong>, Voodoo Fest<\/strong> and Jazz Fest<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Flow Tribe, plays this Thursday and share the bill with Oxford<\/strong>\u2019s own Delta Spring<\/strong>. Flow Tribe is a six man group that originally disbanded after their high school graduation. The destruction of Hurricane Katrina<\/strong> led the band members back to New Orleans to rebuild. The group has toured and been on the festival circuit since then sticking with the same members. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been around for about ten years, at this point, we play a lot of college towns and Oxford is a perfect fit.\u201d said K.C. O<\/strong>\u2019Rorke<\/strong>, lead singer and trumpet player, on their return to Proud Larry\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n

Flow Tribe just finished work on a new album titled Boss<\/em>, produced by Mannie Fresh<\/strong>, of New Orleans, one-half of the rap duo Big Tymers<\/strong>. Flow Tribe brings a new age flair to the New Orleans sound, with instruments like the washboard. O\u2019Rorke said this was a different recording style working with a hip hop producer and using more sampling.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The start of new year has brought more success to Flow Tribe. Their management company recently signed with Silverback Music Management<\/strong>, who represent artist such as Slightly Stoopid<\/strong>, Fishbone<\/strong> and Dumpsterphunk<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a testament to working hard and having good chemistry on stage.\u201d O\u2019Rorke said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Delta Spring looks to kick off the school year the right way. They play with Flow Tribe for the first time Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI dig them, I love funk and they are definitely funky,\u201d said bassist Patrick Mink. \u201cI’m excited to see their play style from what it sounds like pretty clean but still has a bite.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The two will definitely make for a good time for all to be had this Thursday. It will be worth the trip to Larry\u2019s to see the six man group squeeze onto the stage. O\u2019Rorke expressed his like of smaller intimate stages allowing him to interact with the crowd a little easier.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
