Directed by <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Joe Turner Cant\u00fa<\/strong><\/span>, <em>Complete History<\/em> is a three-man show, where the gentlemen characterize many historical figures including iconic women. Ole Miss Senior <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Jeremy Cooper<\/strong><\/span> is 1\/3 of the three man comedic force. He is most looking forward to interacting with the audience and getting them into the action. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">\u201cThis show is not typical of most theatre where you merely sit and enjoy the show,\u201d Cooper said. \u201cThe audience is a part of the show as much as the actors are.\u201d When asked about why folks should venture out to see this production, Cooper said \u201cThe show is a collection of skits to parody history, which makes it unique from any other show this season. The show is full of energy and laughs &#8211; we allow the audience to enjoy the show by getting them in on the jokes!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Although the show only has three characters, many others are involved, such as lighting design student <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Paul Kennedy<\/strong><\/span>. This is his first time lighting the Ford Center Studio Theatre, but he has experience under his belt. Kennedy took a Broadway Lighting Master Class this summer and said, \u201cIt will be very influential to my design choices for this production.\u201d His inspiration for the show is \u201cthe inner child in everyone.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3681\" title=\"Photo by Robert Jordan\/Ole Miss Communications\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Complete-History-I.jpg?resize=350%2C286\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"286\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Complete-History-I.jpg?w=350&amp;ssl=1 350w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Complete-History-I.jpg?resize=300%2C245&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/>He continued, \u201cThese three guys are putting on a show in the same creative way a child would, and it works great.\u201d When asked what he\u2019s looking forward to most about the show Kennedy responded, \u201cOpening night laughter! As a lighting designer I\u2019m always trying to convey the intent of the playwright and with this show, it\u2019s all about comedy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Another big part of the show is costuming three men to look like a variety of American historical figures over a span of 500 years. No easy feat, if you ask the costume designer of the show, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Lindsey Sikes<\/strong><\/span>. \u201cThe characters are not necessarily the three actors,\u201d Sikes said.\u201dThey are the players of all the characters of American history.\u201d She continues, \u201cI want to give them a basic \u2018political comedian\u2019 look and then place costume props on top &#8211; this allows for comedy to manifest naturally. For instance, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>George Washington<\/strong><\/span> wears a powdered wig and aviator glasses!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Sikes added, \u201cThis production has been a lot of fun so far, and I look forward to seeing the results and see the costumes come to life!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3682\" title=\"TLV-164-Theatre-CompleteHistory_\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/TLV-164-Theatre-CompleteHistory_.jpg?resize=328%2C500\" alt=\"\" width=\"328\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/TLV-164-Theatre-CompleteHistory_.jpg?w=328&amp;ssl=1 328w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/TLV-164-Theatre-CompleteHistory_.jpg?resize=196%2C300&amp;ssl=1 196w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 328px) 100vw, 328px\" \/>Director Joe Turner Cant\u00fa said the patrons can expect the following, \u201cThe audience will laugh and laugh, hold their sides for a moment, and laugh some more.\u201d Cant\u00fa continues, \u201cIn the great American tradition of political satire, <em>The Complete History of America (Abridged)<\/em> delivers.\u201d\u00a0 When asked why he decided to direct this play Cant\u00fa responded, \u201cAfter the theme of this year\u2019s season was chosen, I decided I wanted to do a comedy and this was chosen because it\u2019s so well written and funny. I just didn\u2019t know how much fun this was going to be! It\u2019s hard work but worth it as we get to laugh most of the time.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Ole Miss Theatre\u2019s \u201cwork hard, work smart and have fun\u201d attitude for every production pays off as Oxford was named by Livability.com as the second best college town, citing Ole Miss Theatre as one of the reasons to be in Oxford. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">There is mature content in this production. <span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-size: 18px;\">A reception is to follow the Friday, September 21 performance.<\/span> All are welcome to stay and meet the cast and crew.
