Artist Vodka<\/strong> is a liquor crafted by ingredients gathered from across the world. Owner Jim Bulian<\/strong>, who also owns The Summit<\/strong> and Old Venice Pizza Company<\/strong> sat down with The Local Voice<\/strong><\/em> to discuss how he decided to dive into the word of vodka.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to make movies,\u201d said Bulian. \u201cSo, I started writing screenplays. I cut the cable and wrote screenplays for a year. Finally, I came out of my house with this long hair, a beard, and about 12 screenplays.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bulian started shopping his work around trying to raise money. Turns out, there were not a lot of film investors in Mississippi<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bulian decided to take film financing classes. Once he felt he had a grasp on what he was doing, Bulian reached out to a few actors who showed interest, but could not give the project any attention for three months.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have three months, what am I supposed to do for three months,\u201d said Bulian. \u201cSo I started painting and then I started selling paintings.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

When Bulian was in California,<\/strong> painting, he ran into a director who also happened to be a painter.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI ran into the director of Bad Boys<\/em>,\u201d said Bulian. \u201cI love that cat, Gallo is a great guy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

After hitting it off, Gallo read one of Bulian\u2019s screenplays and showed interest.\"1-artist-v-300x400\"<\/span><\/p>\n

That interest lead to Bulian having dinner with a well-known actor who had expressed interest in working on a screenplay he had. This dinner would be where the idea for Artist Vodka would take root.<\/span><\/p>\n

The actor offered him a taste of what he told Bulian was the best vodka he\u2019d ever had.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI gave it a taste,\u201d said Bulian. \u201cI didn\u2019t tell him, but I thought to myself, \u2018this isn\u2019t the greatest vodka\u2019. I handed it back to him and said, \u2018Yeah, it\u2019s great.\u2019.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bulian then looked into the vodka company his friend had offered him a taste of.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt turns out the owner of the company had been in real estate,\u201d said Bulian. \u201cHe didn\u2019t love it, that was just a way to make money and he was making vodka on the side. Then I remembered an article I\u2019d read when I was eighteen that Smirnoff had sold off part of its company to finance films. That\u2019s what I decided to do.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bulian set out to find exactly the right ingredients to make the perfect Vodka.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI tried 75 different vodkas\u2026trying to find the right taste,\u201d said Bulian. \u201cI wanted to make this a worldwide effort. The bottle is from France, the Ferro wheat is from Italy, we use the old world copper kettle method of distilling vodka, paint the bottles in Canada, and it\u2019s made in the United States.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Artist Vodka uses pure cascade water from Lake Stevens in Washington due to it receiving 200 inches of rain and 200 inches of snowfall.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI have this amazing water and this amazing wheat,\u201d said Bulian. \u201cHow could I go wrong?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

With that, Artist Vodka was made, and has yet to be defeated in any blind taste test.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s a great Vodka. You can never say it\u2019s a bad Vodka,\u201d said Bulian. \u201cWe\u2019ve yet to lose a taste test, 24 and 0.\u201d\u00a0\"The<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n
