How long have you lived in Oxford? <\/strong>I moved here in 1997 for school and left sometime around 2003.\u00a0 I moved back in 2011 and never plan on leaving again!<\/span><\/p>\n

Early art experience:\u00a0 <\/strong>My grandfather was notorious for spray painting, naming, and sticking googly eyes on everything from cookie jars to ketchup bottles.\u00a0\u00a0 I don\u2019t know how much art he or I have actually ever made, but I pretty sure I inherited his love for creating.<\/span><\/p>\n

Favorite visual artists: \u00a0<\/strong>Jere Allen, Mel McCuddin, Takashi Murakami, Deborah Butterfield, and the list could go on forever<\/span><\/p>\n

Art school? <\/strong>I studied art education at the University of Mississippi<\/span><\/p>\n

Favorite book or author: \u00a0<\/strong>Letters To A Young Poet<\/span><\/p>\n

Favorite quotation: \u00a0<\/strong>Buford T. Justin – Give me a diablo sandwich, a Dr. Pepper, and make it quick, I’m in a god-damn hurry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you work out of a studio? <\/strong>Yes, My studio is located about 20 minutes outside of Oxford near Water Valley, Misssippi.<\/span><\/p>\n

How many hours to you spend in your studio each day? \u00a0<\/strong>Anywhere from 8 \u2013 12\u00a0 on an average day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Most productive hours? <\/strong>Early morning or late at night.<\/span><\/p>\n

Favorite project you\u2019ve completed: \u00a0<\/strong>I can\u2019t say that is was my favorite project, but earlier this year I did a series of landscapes.\u00a0 They allowed me to explore some new ideas\u00a0 on the canvas that are hopefully starting to take shape in my new wildlife paintings.<\/span><\/p>\n

Three ideas you want to explore in art:<\/strong> \u00a0childhood, nature as we are a part of it, and negative as the positive<\/span><\/p>\n

Where can we see some of your art on display? \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>I have a solo show at Grit in Taylor, MS that opens on September 6th<\/sup> and will have one painting in a group show at The Graduate hotel as part of the Art Hunt website launch on September 19th<\/sup>.\u00a0 I also hang work in some of the Billy Reid stores in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, and Nashville.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you have a \u201cday job\u201d? If so, where? \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>I\u2019m so very fortunate to say that painting is my full time job.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been doing this full time now for about 6 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Favorite music\/bands: \u00a0<\/strong>I love all music but mostly listen to electronic stuff when I paint \u2013 it keeps me moving and shaking and provides a steady rhythm to work to.\u00a0\u00a0 Currently I\u2019ve been listening to a lot of Justin Martin, Spartaque, and Addison Groove.\u00a0 On the band side of things \u2013 I\u2019d say somewhere in my top 10 would be Earth Wind and Fire, Louis Armstrong, Jimmy Cliff, Dwight Yoakam and how could we forget, Midnight Star!!!<\/span><\/p>\n

What are some of your other hobbies<\/strong>?\u00a0 I love spending time with my family and practicing my break dancing moves with my 16 month old daughter!\u00a0 On occasion I\u2019m still able to get out and play music around town.<\/span><\/p>\n

Where do you hang out in Oxford? <\/strong>I\u2019m a bit of a homebody so most of my time is spent with my family at home or at my studio.\u00a0 Snackbar, St. Leo, and The Oxford Grillhouse are some of my favorite spots to grab dinner and drinks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aspirations<\/strong>:\u00a0 I think my #1 goal at this point in life is to just be a great dad for my daughter and enjoy every minute with her.\u00a0 I\u2019m so very fortunate to be doing what I love for a living and there isn\u2019t much more that I could ask for.\u00a0\"The<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
