On April 2, 2016, Oxford Writes<\/strong> held its inaugural workshop for writers and aspiring writers, which proved to be a successful start for the new venture. Now Oxford Writes is ready for its second event.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOxford Writes Night\u201d will take place on Tuesday, June 28, at Shelter on Van Buren<\/strong>. And while it won\u2019t be as large a production as the first workshop, founder Jeff Roberson <\/strong>wants the periodic smaller events to be as much a part of what Oxford Writes is all about as the larger workshops in its future.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe want Oxford Writes to become a visible and important part of the Oxford community in a number of ways,\u201d Roberson said. \u201cHaving local events like an Oxford Writes Night is one way we are excited to accomplish this.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Oxford Writes board member David Waddell<\/strong>, author of 2015\u2019s Characters of the Bible<\/em><\/strong>, will talk about his books and also about self-publishing.<\/span><\/p>\n

David Vicchiollo<\/strong>, a local songwriter and musician, will talk about the craft of songwriting and his business venture DVIC Music. He will also perform some of his music.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both Waddell and Vicchiollo are a part of the Oxford writing community. Oxford Writes incorporates many aspects of the art of writing into its activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBook writing and songwriting are two of the areas we are excited to present as a part of our mission,\u201d Roberson said. \u201cDavid and David are looking forward to talking to those who gather on June 28 at Shelter about what it is they do and how others can also do what they do. Oxford Writes is all about mentoring, sharing, and creating.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The event is free and Shelter will have its regular evening offerings for those who attend to purchase.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first \u201cOxford Writes Night” will begin at 6:30 pm with a mix and mingle, followed by the program at 7 pm.<\/span><\/p>\n
