NBC<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0Tom Brokaw\u00a0<\/strong>will return to Oxford to speak at the 163rd\u00a0University of Mississippi<\/strong> commencement ceremony on May 14\u00a0in the Grove<\/strong>. This is his second appearance speaking at Ole Miss, having spoken as a guest lecturer for the University of Mississippi School of Journalism and New Media in 2010. <\/span><\/p>\n

Brokaw is best known as the long time anchor of NBC\u2019s\u00a0Nightly News<\/em>, and has also hosted\u00a0Today<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Meet the Press<\/em>, making him the only person to hold the distinction of having hosted all three of the network\u2019s major televised news programs. Brokaw is the recipient of too many awards to count, including multiple Peabody Awards and Emmy Awards, as well as the Ken Burns Lifetime Achievement Award. He also recently received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in 2014\u2014the highest award bestowed on any civilian of the United States. Although no longer a televised news anchor, Brokaw currently serves as a Special Corresponder for NBC News, and does work in documentaries.<\/span><\/p>\n

In case of rain, the College of Liberal Arts master\u2019s degree ceremony will be moved to 11 am in the Jackson Avenue Center.
