Whether referred to as Get Tryin\u2019, Ghost Traveler, Green Teeth, or their well-known moniker, \\\\GT\/\/<\/b>, the three-piece rock band from Birmingham, Alabama, knows and unapologetically displays exactly who they are and where they come from. With an undeniably raw sound and equally raw aesthetics to match, the band is refreshingly transparent and unfiltered. In 2013 the band released Heavy Dreams <\/i>EP as well as the Get Tryin\u2019<\/i> EP, establishing their straightforward, southern-meets-punk style of rock amongst listeners. Now the band is on the cusp of releasing their very first full-length album, Beats Misplaced<\/i>, due out on October 16th, which has already gotten rave reviews from the likes of Uncut<\/i>, Bearded<\/i>, and Backseat Mafia<\/i>, to name a few.\"newgtpt3\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

So far the band, which consists of founding member\/ guitarist Scotty Lee<\/b>, vocalist Byron Sonnier<\/b>, and bassist\/vocalist Mark Beasley<\/b>, have released two music videos to accompany tracks from the forthcoming album: \u201cSomething\u2019s Wrong With My Mind\u201d and most recently, \u201cRails,\u201d both directed by Dillon Hayes<\/b>. With that being said, both videos have gotten attention from countless publications including Flood<\/i>, Clash, <\/i>and Backseat Mafia<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSomething\u2019s Wrong With My Mind\u201d is a dark and frantic song, accompanied by an even darker video that touches on paranoia and being creeped out. Meanwhile, \u201cRails\u201d is a highly artistic representation of the who the band is and where they call home.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBasically, my interpretation of the song is that Scotty is kind of singing about my obsession with trains. And so we wanted to have some trains in the video. And that\u2019s actually me in the video riding on trains. So we wanted to make sure that was included,\u201d Sonnier explained. \u201cBut we also wanted to do a portrait of Birmingham and how it looks to us, not from an outsider, but someone who lives there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\"The<\/a>Sonnier continued to explain the importance of their Southern roots, saying, \u201cWe definitely pull from where we\u2019re from. And I don\u2019t know about other people, but I can definitely hear it in the music. And to me that video [\u201cRails\u201d], more than anything we\u2019ve ever done, kind of shows what we\u2019re all about.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Overall, Beats Misplaced<\/i> offers a look at how the trio have grown and evolved musically over the past couple of years. Sonnier elaborates, \u201cI think it\u2019s a little more stripped down. This record has a lot more super simple and kind of straight up punk stuff on it.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

As far as the band\u2019s thoughts on finally releasing an LP, Sonnier said, \u201cWe\u2019re super excited. The album\u2019s been recorded for a while so we\u2019re super excited for people to finally hear it.\u201d He further explained that now the band is focused on \u201ctouring and trying to get to Europe, and writing more songs for another album.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
