Following a decisive win over New Mexico State in their Homecoming game, the Ole Miss\u00a0Rebels hit the road again this week for a showdown with the undefeated, #22 Memphis Tigers.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At his Monday morning press conference, Coach Hugh Freeze called Memphis an \u201coutstanding football team\u201d that is \u201cplaying with great confidence.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI know the excitement level and the enthusiasm that they have around their program right now,\u201d he said. \u201cIt is a quality, quality football team.\u201d\"239-sports-4\"<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In particular, Freeze was highly complimentary of Memphis QB Paxton Lynch, calling him \u201cone of the better [quarterbacks] I\u2019ve seen on film.\u201d Lynch has had much success piloting Memphis head coach Justin Fuente\u2019s offense in 2015, passing for over 1500 yards with a 70.5% completion percentage through five games.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cJustin [Fuente] has always been a good offensive coach, and his staff game-plans very well,\u201d said Freeze. \u201cTheir scheme is very sound\u2026 [T]here\u2019s no question, they\u2019re one of the better offenses in the country.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As for his own team, Freeze said that he was pleased with the New Mexico State game film, and that he hopes that his team can take this break from conference play to get a little healthier and continue shuffling the lineup. Key players Jaylen Walton, Demore\u2019ea Stringfellow, and Justin Bell are all expected to return to action this weekend.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In regard to the struggles in the punt return game, Freeze noted that both Markell Pack and Tony Bridges will see snaps at PR, given Carlos Davis\u2019s recent struggles.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got to improve there,\u201d said Freeze of the special teams\u2019 struggles. \u201cThe number one goal of your punt return unit is to have the football, and too many times this year, that hasn\u2019t been the case.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Rebels have had varying success on the road thus far on the year, defeating Alabama and struggling to get anything going vs. Florida.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPlaying undefeated teams on the road, there\u2019s no question there\u2019s an experience factor that comes with that, that we need to draw upon,\u201d said Freeze. \u201cSome good that we\u2019ve done, and some bad that we need to improve on.\u201d\u00a0\"239-sports-5\"<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On the defensive side of the ball, Freeze stressed the need to get off the field on third down. As for the offense, Freeze said that his offensive staff \u201cneed[s] to make sure we feel really, really good about those first few calls.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully, we have a few successful plays early to get us started right.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Freeze also said that he hopes that Rebel Nation will have a good turnout in Memphis this Saturday, a \u201croad game\u201d that is right in Ole Miss\u2019s backyard.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
