You\u2019ll feel like you\u2019re riding around with Jimbo and his driver, to whom he sings, \u201cI just saw the blue light flash in the back of my mind. Look here, driver, you know you\u2019re one toke over the line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The second track begins with the same haunting keys as \u201cHypmotized\u201d from<em> Knockdown South<\/em> and resolves into a soul-stirring strain. I wouldn\u2019t have been surprised if the title had been \u201cSmall Town,\u201d but it\u2019s \u201cAin\u2019t Feelin\u2019 It.\u201d My favorite line is \u201cKeep my name out yo\u2019 mouth.\u201d It\u2019s a perfect Oxford song. I could listen to it on repeat for hours some days. Then \u201cHaunted John\u201d ends Side A on a rock n\u2019 roll note, with a bass riff that\u2019s still stuck in my head.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2562\" title=\"jimbo\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/jimbo.jpg?resize=350%2C234\" width=\"350\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/jimbo.jpg?w=350&amp;ssl=1 350w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/jimbo.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/>Side B begins with another rockin\u2019 refrain, which has become my favorite Jimbo song, even though I\u2019ve only heard it twice: \u201cF**ked Up World\u201d (only he doesn\u2019t use asterisks in the title). It\u2019s hard to beat lyrics like <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>\u201cI\u2019m tired of living in a f**ked up world. I wish The Man would get his shit together.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cShackles and Chains,\u201d a sort-of love song, reminds me of <strong>Janis Joplin<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cBall and Chain,\u201d all about the leashes of love. But much more Mississippi.
