Women\u2019s Tennis Receives NCAA Bid<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ole Miss Women\u2019s Tennis Squad made the NCAA tournament, and will head to Miami for their first\u00a0round action. This is their seventh consecutive NCAA bid. They will face Denver on May 8th at 10 am, CST.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very excited to go to Miami,\u201d head coach Mark Beyers said. \u201cWe played a fall tournament there a\u00a0couple of \"Womens<\/a>years ago. It\u2019s going to be hot, but we\u2019re probably more used to that than Denver. Should we\u00a0advance, Miami is obviously a very talented team, but we won\u2019t look past Denver.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Ole Miss finished the regular season with a 15\u201310 overall record. The Rebels are led by senior Julia Jones,who earned first team All-SEC honors. Jones is currently ranked No. 9 in the nation in singles and this year\u00a0became the seventh player in program history to record 100 wins in a career. She has a 28\u20139 overall record,\u00a018\u20136 at No. 1 singles and finished 8\u20134 in SEC play.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rebels Baseball Rolling After Taking d<\/strong><\/span>own Tide and TSBU<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Just two days after taking a series from Alabama, Ole Miss thumped Mississippi State 11\u20131 at Pearl.\u00a0Senior pitcher Scott Weathersby went seven scoreless innings as the Rebels provided him 15 hits and 11\u00a0runs on Tuesday at Trustmark Park in Pearl. Ole Miss improved to 24\u201322 and made history with the largest\u00a0margin of victory in 36 year history of the series.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI was just trying to go inning by inning, working on that inning and just giving us a chance,\u201d said Weathersby.\u00a0\u201cI was just trying to work the zone and let our defense do the work, and they did that behind me tonight.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Ole Miss recorded 15 hits paced once again by leadoff hitter Connor Cloyd. The junior went 3-for-6 with a\u00a0career-high four RBI. Cloyd also produced his seventh-straight multi-hit game. Four more Rebels provided\u00a0multi-hit games as \"Baseball<\/a>Colby Bortles, Cameron Dishon, Austin Knight, and Sikes Orvis all recorded two hits\u00a0apiece. Bortles and Dishon each knocked in a pair of Rebels.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ole Miss took one of two on the road against Missouri and will face Mississippi State in a three game series at home this weekend. The series will begin on Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ole Miss Track Star Feldmeier Claims Back to Back SEC Honors<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Brooke Feldmeier, a freshman from Olympia, Washington, has been named the SEC Women\u2019s Freshman of\u00a0the Week twice. She won the 800-meter title with a time of 2:05.96 that was the second-best of any NCAA\u00a0woman last weekend. Her performance came one week after setting the school record with a 2:05.29 in\u00a0Virginia.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is now the fourth straight week that a Rebel has been named SEC Freshman of the Week (Shannon Ray\u00a0on April 7, Dempsey McGuigan on April 14, Feldmeier on April 21).<\/p>\n

Volleyball Sophomore Crow Selected to US National Team<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Ole Miss Volleyball sophomore outside hitter Melanie Crow has been selected to train and compete with the\u00a0U.S. Collegiate National Team program, USA Volleyball announced.\u00a0Crow (Wildwood, Missouri) is among 36 athletes (nine outside hitters) selected by USA Volleyball to participate\u00a0in the U.S. Collegiate National Team (CNT) program that will train and compete in conjunction with the USA\u00a0Volleyball Girls\u2019 Junior National Championships from June 21\u201329 in New Orleans, Louisiana.<\/span><\/p>\n
