The award-winning University<\/strong> of<\/strong> Mississippi<\/strong> Opera<\/strong> Theatre<\/strong>\u00a0Ensemble<\/strong>, under the direction of Julia<\/strong> Aubrey<\/strong>, will present the world premiere of Hamlet<\/strong>, Prince<\/strong> of<\/strong> Denmark<\/strong> in the Ford<\/strong> Center<\/strong> for<\/strong> the<\/strong> Performing<\/strong> Arts<\/strong> on April 18, 2015. Composed by alumnae Dr.<\/strong> Nancy<\/strong> Van<\/strong> de<\/strong> Vate<\/strong>, the opera will feature faculty, students, and alumni on stage and in the orchestra for this exciting event. Following this premiere, the cast and crew will take the production to Prague,<\/strong> Czech<\/strong> Republic<\/strong> for a performance on May 30, 2015 with the Moravian<\/strong> Philharmonic<\/strong> under the baton of Petr<\/strong> Vronsky<\/strong>. Join us for this superb creation here in Oxford<\/strong> and abroad!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The role of Hamlet will be played by guest artist Ryan<\/strong> MacPhearson<\/strong>. UM Music faculty members Jennifer<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Bradley<\/strong>\u00a0Robinson<\/strong> will perform in the roles of\u00a0Gertrude\u00a0and\u00a0Claudius, the\u00a0Queen\u00a0and\u00a0King\u00a0of Denmark. Guest faculty artist from Samford<\/strong> Universtity,<\/strong> G<\/strong>. William<\/strong> Bugg<\/strong>, will perform in the role of Ghost\/Gravedigger.
