OXFORD, MISS. \u2013 The 13-1 Oxford Chargers<\/strong> football team are state championship bound this Saturday, December 6, making their 5A state football championship appearance for the second year in a row. The Oxford Chargers face Laurel at 7 pm for the 5A state championship title in the MHSAA Blue Cross & Blue Shield 2014 Gridiron Classic<\/strong> at Mississippi State University<\/strong>\u2019s Davis Wade Stadium<\/strong> in Starkville<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMaking it to th\"OxfordChargers-1_PHOTOBYCARVER\"<\/a>e state championship game in our class is an achievement that makes us all proud,\u201d said Oxford High School Athletic Director and Charger Head Football Coach Johnny Hill<\/strong>. \u201cI am extremely excited for this group. Our motto this year has been, \u2018Finish the drill,\u2019 and our team has worked hard to do this to get where we are today.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Ticket Information<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

General admission tickets are $12 each and can be purchased this week through Friday at the Oxford High School front office from 8 am\u20134 pm or the Oxford School District office from 7:30 am\u20134:30 pm. Oxford High School is located at 101 Charger Loop, and the Oxford School District is located at 224 Bramlett Boulevard. Also, University Sporting Goods, located at 105 Courthouse Square, will sell tickets for $12 though Saturday at noon.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tickets are $13 on game day at MSU\u2019s Davis Wade Stadium Box Offices on the north and south ends. Tickets are general admission, and no reserved seating is available. One ticket is good for all games on the day the ticket is issued. Children five and under will be admitted without a ticket.<\/span><\/p>\n

Community Can Support Team <\/strong><\/span>at Thursday Pep Rally <\/strong><\/span>or Saturday Sendoff<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\"OxfordChargers-3\"<\/a>The community can show their support as the Oxford Chargers march toward the state championship at two events open to the public: 1) the Oxford Chargers State Football Championship Pep Rally Thursday, December 4 at 6:30 pm in front of the Oxford City Hall on the historic Oxford Square or 2) during the Oxford Chargers State Football Championship Sendoff on Saturday, December 6 at 12:45 pm in front of the Chargers Athletic Facilities on the Oxford Middle School campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

During both events, the community is encouraged to cheer for the Chargers, show their school spirit by wearing blue and gold, and even bring signs of encouragement for the team before they embark on their state championship appearance in Starkville.<\/span><\/p>\n

TV & Web Streaming of the Gridiron Classic<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

There\u2019s good news for fans who cannot make the trip to Starkville: the 5A state championship game will air live on Mississippi Public Broadcasting (WMAV-DT, Channel 18 in the Oxford viewing area) and online at www.misshsaa.tv<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Game Day Information: Charger Walk<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

To enjoy the total championship experience, Charger fans are encouraged to line the sidewalk leading into MSU\u2019s Davis Wade Stadium on Saturday, December 6 at 5:10 pm to cheer on the football team and coaches as they make their way in to the stadium for the gridiron matchup.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stadium prohibited items include: no video cameras or videotaping; artificial noisemakers of any kind such as air horns, bullhorns, sirens; cannons; umbrellas; propane heaters; ice chests; outside food or drink; weapons; alcohol or tobacco; or, any items deemed inappropriate, hazardous, or unsafe by venue personnel.<\/span>
